Top 15 Things to Do in Ella

44 reviewed

Ella is three walks, one bridge and a great deal of banana roti. Little Adam’s Peak takes forty minutes, Ella Rock takes two hours and a guide who knows the turn-off, and the Nine Arch Bridge is best an hour before a train. Below are the best Ella tours with prices, start times, and which fold the lot into one morning.

Reserve seats on the scenic Kandy to Ella train in 2nd or 3rd class, with ticket delivery and reserved compartments, for a practical hill-country day.

“So much mark up. Yes we got first class reserved tickets but the cost was 5000 rupees and we paid the equivalent of 27,000 rupees. Talk about mark up Viator, bet the local provider was only paid a fraction of the total as mark up and the rest went to viator. Won't be using this site for any other tickets ever again. Had to chase the local provider for tickets right up until the night before after booking a month in advance. Buy in person at the station instead.”

We visited some lovely waterfalls and he always knew areas that would be less crowded for us to see. Overall a really great idea if you’re wanting to see the sights of Ella in a stress-free way. Highly recommend Jegan to anybody thinking of booking!”

“Absolutely loved this spice garden tour and the cooking class. Upulu’s knowledge was incredible and we learnt so much about all the types of spices in Sri Lankan cooking but also daily spices we use but don’t think about how they’re grown and made into what we know in the kitchen like cinnamon and nutmeg. The cooking class itself was fun and interactive. We learnt how to make quite a few dishes and the best part was the eating!! Our cooking teacher was absolutely amazing and Lahiru (the guy helping us, not sure if I’ve spelt his name correctly) was as the real hero making sure everything was smooth and…”
