Having being on a wonderful safari at Udawalawe the previous week we had high expectations. Sadly we were disappointed. The safari was more like a Toyota truck rally with 30 vehicles in convoy for the entirety of the time. Consequently there was so much noise that we saw very few animals. There was a constant jostling for people to be able to see the few animals we saw (largely deer, fowl, monitor lizards and birds). “Brilliant day. We were very lucky and saw some amazing animals. Our guide was friendly and beyond helpful. And our safari driver was knowledgable about spotting the animals and places to try. Between them the made it an experience we'll never forget. Food was amazing and our dietary requirements were taken into account. Only thing that would have been helpful would have been to have a bit more idea on structure of the day and timings upfront, while we know it would be approx, its just helpful to know roughly breakfast and lunch times as well as when comfort breaks are possible. “Helaas door het regenachtige weer weinig dieren gezien, maar daar kan de tour niets aan doen uiteraard. Bij ons waren 2 personen aanwezig: een chauffeur en een “ranger”. Volgens de omschrijving zou de tour in Engels zijn, maar de chauffeur sprak zeer gebrekkig/slecht Engels en de ranger sprak helemaal geen Engels. De ranger lag overigens ruim de helft van onze tour te slapen in de jeep, dus echt dierenspoten werd niet gedaan.. Daarnaast was de chauffeur bevriend van diverse chauffeurs van andere jeeps, waardoor hij continu hen op zocht en telkens zo’n 10 minuten stil ging staan om met hen te praten, in plaats van dieren spotten/rond rijden.
